2.0 8V Turbo (Xantia/406/605 Ect) Earliest Production Year

Hi, as title really what is the earliest production year for the 2.0 8v turbo unit and which model was it in.

AFAIK the 605 and XM were the first cars fitted with that engine in the early 90's

 

Wikipedia suggests 1991 for the 605 and 1992 for the XM, although I've only personally seen them on 1993 and later cars

brilliant thanks for that, will look further into them. So the engine can just about scrape through into "classic" status

Why does the engine need to have classic status?

had trouble insuring one before on classic as the donor car didn't count as one

I think they were earlier in France than here, but L reg is your earliest. The ECUs end 219 and they do not have an immobiliser built in
