Removing Petrol From Fuel Tank

Recommended Posts

Alfie

Simple question really, I'm starting to break my dead 205. There is nearly a full tank of fuel in it. Need to know safest, quickest way to get it out and into my new Pug' :)

Using the pump is not an option unfortunately if the car was not a fuel injected one! In that case you might want to invest in one of those siphon pumps and as said do it through the hole in the top of the tank (sender/pickup)

in carb models you can still do it using the mechanical pump attached to the head, would probably take about a week and a half of cranking tho :P

Make a jiggle syphon.

If you do end up having to do it the old way of syphoning with your mouth for any reason, what I would say is if you lose the stream of fuel and go to syphon it again, remove the pipe and shake the fuel residue out of it.

Nothing worse than going to suck it through again and inhaling a lung full of vapour.
