Help Identifying This Wiring Please

Hi guys, ive been trying to stop this annoying rain leak im getting into my boot and on removing the plastic trim behind the boot lock i discovered this frazzled cable.

I dont know what its for if someone could identify it for me i would be most appreciative. Thanks

The white thing it's plugged into is a tilt switch which turns on the boot light.

looks like the earth wire for the boot light tilt switch.
