Tu Into 1.6 Gti - Gear Linkages

Recommended Posts

bobdylan_55

I'm in the middle of a TU conversion, putting the 16v into a 1.6 gti shell.

I've read on another thread that something needs to be cut and rewelded on the subframe, and the ball moved?

Does anyone have a pic of what needs to be moved (and where to)? Probably going to struggle to reweld this now the engine is in the car but oh well :-D

here she is... we started at 11pm and finished around 2am lol

which gearbox are you going to use? chocolate teapot or BE4?

its quite simple really, there's one one part that you could cut off and move on the linkage system, have a look at a couple of the project threads with this engine as there's a few pics posted.

It's the 'handbrake on a canoe' gearbox, well for now anyways - will go BE4 when funds permit.

I read a couple of TU 205 blogs but couldn't find any proper close up pictures, just words about 'cutting and rewelding'.

I'll look again!

That's a standard TU subframe, you can see the different shape quadrant arm too, goes without saying you'll need the linkages too.

Thanks! Yeah got the rods already.... looks like i'll need that quadrant bit that the rods attach to then, and then move the mounting point over to the left?
