Firewall Carpet?

hi , striped down my GTI , and found out the black sponge carpet is all worn and wet

removed it and now i need to get a replacement

what can i use instead?

Is that the one that goes behind the dash up agaisnt the bulkhead..?

 

I ripped that out in my rallye and left it out.

 

EDIT: you could try some dynamat type stuff.

I used laminate flooring underlay sponge to do the whole car, its about 3-4mm thick so you can double it up to make the original thickness of the old crappy stuff, if you leave it out the carpet could sag around the centre tunnel and around the edges of the footwell and then tear. Best of all is the sponge is virtually weightless and deadens a hell of a lot of road noise.
