My 205 Gti - Laser Green 2.0 8V Turbo :-P

Recommended Posts

Spoke to the one and only Dave at SOS Motorsport about a car he was building to then sell on as a track/fast road car. A good looking wee 205 GTI getting a 2.0 8v Turbo conversion. ironically the engine going into the car was one I had sourced for a previous build I had and abandoned, so seemed like fate shouting on me to buy it.

It's one of the most fun cars Iv ever driven, and with the engine it has, it goes extremely well. Perfect setup for it.

1991 Peugeot 205 GTI

Lowered on Spax suspension

2.5" Turbo back exhaust

What a laugh it is. Super quick wee motor. Gets major attention everywhere it goes (sometimes not the attention you may want) but its a fantastic car. Does 70 miles a day to and from work, then a bit kicking about at night/weekends. Brilliant fun, alot of character about it.

Comments and criticism welcome as always :-)

Cheers

Steve

Cheers guys. It's a bit of a Quick car, certainly frightens alot of bigger motors lol.

Yes it's low, maybe a little too low, can hear the exhaust catching on big bump, but getting stiffer rear shocks fitted this week with power flex bumpstops. Bumper inserts are fitted, they are just black. Maybe get driving lights for it, but very overpriced and as well leaving the gap as possible air ducts for the brakes. It certainly does go well :-)

I get like that while too easy too , once you get used to the power you always want more, I spent 13k building an animal of a proton with a turbo conversion then bigger turbo conversions etc, this is why I'm planning on keeping my 1990 1.9 GTI STOCK I'm not even changing the speakers although I have full JL kit sitting and an MTX amp to run it all

Looks good, should be fun with that sort of power, what management does it run?

Slightly chav-spec ride height mind, would handle a little better being slightly raised, but if you're happy with it that's the main thing. :)

Thanks lads.

Like said, the ride height at the rear is slightly lower than I'd have liked, but it doesn't handle badly the way it is just now.

It's running standard management with a bleed valve to adjust the boost. It's been perfectly set up as best as possible on the rolling road @ SOS Motorsport. Guys are incredible at what they do on the Peugeots (and other models). The engine when mapped previously at 15psi only made 8hp more, and the drive of the car is very smooth. More than happy with the way it is just now. It's fast enough for the road. If it becomes a track car soon (which is a possibility) then I'd look into making it a bit quicker.

Exhaust isn't a 'copy' either. It's a good few years old, was on a 205 years ago with same engine coversion.

Thanks for all the positives though guys :-)
