Removing Ignition Barrel

Seemingly a simple job and ive done it twice before but that was a few years ago now :(. ive removed the 2 m5 pins and put the key in to disengage the steeting lock is off but still nothing?!

Have you undone the 7mm head bolt on the top of the barrel? You'll have to lower the rack

It's not the steering lock, you need to find the position at which you can push the locking mechanism tabs on the barrel 'in' to release the barrel from the column, there's holes in the underside of the column that they lock into.

there's usually a marking, its in between two positions, hold the key there and push the pins in.

Cheers all, i'll have a go at that tommorow after work. Can the lock in a fuel cap be changed? If so how?

Can't remember 100% but do remember its not too difficult once everything is separated...as long as the two main halves come apart at the glue and don't break the plastics,,,, Will need some good superglue for re-assembly
