Got Me A 1.9 Gti

Hi folks, I recently swapped my 1968 mini for a 205 1.9 GTI. Have to say I loved the drive I had in it the day I got it untill it broke down and refuses to start again, that's been put in a different thread though lol. It's nippy, almost as solid in the corners as my mini, almost as much fun to drive as my Scooby but I'd say the closet thing it comes to in terms of driving experience was my old proton coupe. Don't mock lol, that was a brilliant car recaro seats, lotus suspension and a Mitsubishi shell, all powered by a 1.8 colt GTI engine which I swapped for the 1.8 turbo lancer engine. So I'm rating the 205 highly in comparing it to my old coupe lol.

This was my mini I swapped for it, it had a lot of work done too. Mk3 front as I wasn't a fan of the mk1 grill or the external door hinges plus a full modern interior and the engine tuned and webber'd

White 205 is crackin. Had a few old minis as well, that looks a nice one you had as well. 205 slightly more comfortable I'd say lol.

And don't be so quick to knock the proton she embarrassed a hell of a lot of uk scoobys. It was an animal off the line an on rails in the bends. If I could get another solid one in northern Ireland I'd buy it in a heart beat, I still have my turbo engine and box I could drop straight into it

White 205 is crackin. Had a few old minis as well, that looks a nice one you had as well. 205 slightly more comfortable I'd say lol.

 

 

Yeah dude the 205 is a lot more comfortable, I had the mini sat on koni adjustables and she was solid in the corners and with such direct steering you were thrown about all over the place o_O the 205 is more civilized and a lot quicker lol

The mini was a pain in the back side it fought me every step of the way which is why I took the swap for the GTI when offered lol

Good cars the protons,my bro rallies one and my cousin is building a rally car and also runs a coupe run about.
