Haha yea. Actually on record! Its just rained 30+mm every day this week which is also another record. Still, its always sunny after it rains and we dont have the damp or the salt etc on the roads.

My 25yr old 205 has not a speck of corrosion on anything and its done 180 000 miles and is near perfect. The paint is faded to the max from the sun though!!

5 hours, removed out the top. Easy as pie. Motor is mint as mint can be. A proper 1 owner from new and a Lady, complete service history! Has done 94000 kms or 58000 miles. No oil anywhere. No corrosion on anything. Started it up, quiet as a mouse, drove it up the street, backed it into the garage and pulled it out with gearbox. Stoked.

Thanks again gents for all the advice. I would have taken it out the bottom but did not have the height clearence I wanted. Removing the radiator was easy as it had been crashed in the front and so most was already removed!

By the way. DO the rear callipers fit a 205 rear end? Mine are at the end and these look the same? Are the trailing arms worth the hassle to get out also and fit to the 309 beam I have? Im fitting 21.3mm bars to it next week so while its apart it may be worth it? ( its solid mounted too..)

You can fit the trailing arms, discs, calipers, all complete. Trailing arms have a decent amount of negative camber, also they have quite a bit of toe in, makes the rear quite stable.

beware that if you already have a 309 beam on that the 306+xsara hubs do push the wheels out a further 9mm IIRC, and will require the 306/xsara discs to be used due to this extra offset.

the pistons are larger so do make sure you have a matching pair, you need to measure under the dust boot as the outer part that the pad sits on is always 30mm, whereas most of the later Bendix/bosch variants are 32mm bore on the piston itself :)

309 beam with the Xsara arms will fit on a 205 with standard 1900 wheels and 195/50/15 tyres, it is very close though, and you will find the rear arches will trim themselves to suit! My 205 has this arrangement plus another 4mm each side to space off the vented rear discs I am using.

Ok Cool. Great advice and thanks guys.

Welsh pug, Im not too sure what you mean about the 30mm and 32mm. What are these numbers relevant to and what are the things I need to be aware of? The whole beam is available so I can take the arms, discs, pads and callipers and fit them to my 309 beam. The items in question are mint just like the rest of the car. What sort of money should I be expecting to pay for them? Can I use the ARB on the 309 beam?

Ahh ok cool. If its the 32mm, should I get a larger MC?

no, its not a big enough difference to make that necessary.

You may find it easier to take the complete beam off the car. The 24mm anti roll bar can be shortened and either one end re splined, or bore out the end plate and weld it to the anti roll bar end. This is how Peugeot did it on later cars (206) and I have done a number of these bars now with good success.

Ahh interesting. Ill check the width when I pull it apart and let you know. Whats a standard 309 arb? Can I just order one from over your way? Or is it easy enough to get it shortened and splined?
