One Fricking Problem After Another ? French ... Grrrrrrrr

since i bought my 4 owner 1.6 gti in cherry red i have only had to replace consumables ( air filter , oil filter , oil , bulbs ) and total reliability!

i must admit it has a 99% fsh and only ever had synthetic / semi synthetic oil and regular servicing which i am continuing and i always do regular water oil and tyre pressure checks etc.

i am expecting parts to need replacement eventually due to age and wear and tear but like any car over 20 years old ( or any car full stop come to that! ) with regular maintenance it should be as reliable as any other car.

i too am very restricted budgetwise and hope in time to make my car better than new ( a very long term project lol! ) but right now it is my daily driver and has recently ( in the last month ) taken me from lancashire to se london and kent twice with my wife and new baby as passengers as well as pram luggage etc with no issues whatsoever! :)

i like many others here am a lifelong fan of the 205 gti and having owned 3 so far ( i am looking for another lol! ) can safely say that i have been bitten by the bug and no matter what problems i face with my car i will never be selling her as i have happily resigned myself to the fact i need a 205 gti in my life!

My GTi cost me 600 quid (10 years ago) and has only had regular maintenance until recently. I think the fsh really helped (2 owner). Also I never but never rev it past the red line, although I drive it very hard.

I feel your pain though as the car has started to feel a bit clapped out recently hence getting an engine rebuild and new clutch and so on. I figure that spread over 10 years or more the cost of a rebuild isn't so bad.

Good luck anyway mate.
