Gti Bumper/valance Upgrade...

Hi interested in fitting front and rear GTI bumpers to my CJ 205, 1988

 

Can i use original bumpers but upgrade to front and rear gti valances? or do i have to replace the whole bumpers front and rear?

 

Had a bit of a search but couldnt find a definitive answer.

Yes. You don't want GTI bumpers unless you have the arches as GTI bumpers are a little shorter and have holes in the ends. The valances just clip on.

well i was thinking of using Rallye arches with the Gti Front and rear bumpers, sideskirts and getting them all smoothed and filled to look a bit different!

isnt the towing eye at the front in a different place on the base models to the gti's?

if so you mite have a problem with the front valance

Yes it is, you need to unbolt one from a model with GTI style valances.

With a lot of base models, yes, the towing eye got left in the factory

Yeah i believe the towing eye is on the right on the CJ, take it thats different? Guess i will have to get my hands on a GTI One!!

The GTi one's just bolt on, so it shouldn't be a problem

i tried to undo the bolts holding said tow hook on the other night on my 1990 GTi and it happily took my 13st full weight and some and just stayed solid so good luck with unbolting one of these fella

Sorry hijack the thread buddie im doing the same thing one my XL. Anyone got front nd rear valances laying about for sale? Any colour Cheers
