Main Beam Not Working

Can anyone tell me where abouts the main beam relay or fuse might be please?

 

It was working today whilst i was checking the lights but now when the stalk clicks to main beam the headlights go out and theres no light apart from the side lights.

 

Ive tried replacing a bulb but that has no effect. Also tried swapping various relays in the glove box and again nothing??

I've tried doing a search but all I can see is to check the earths behind the headlights.

 

I've cleaned both up but still no main beam.

 

Can anyone shed any light on the issue ( excuse the pun!)

checking condition of wiring is always a good start, but swapping relays wont help unless you know which one you're swapping them for or too, get someone else to operate the dim/dip on the stalk and listen for relay operation find the dim/dip relay and change that one with a identical relay it will only be a standard 4pin anyway, it might well be under the bonnet but i'm not sure on its location as I haven't had issues that haven't been the stalk, also once the circuit is complete it will light the indicator on the dashboard if it doesn't there will be a break in the circuit (assuming the main indicator lamp bulb was working prior)

Cheers Lan, I've checked all the wiring and cleaned up all the terminals.

 

I have noticed only the side light bulb on the dash comes on now.

They all worked before, but now even when the headlights are switched on it doesn't light up the dash bulb.

Have you had problems with the stalks before?

Could be my next port of call

Just tried another stalk I had from a car I stripped a few years ago and....... Hey presto! Main beam works!

Even the driving lights work now!

 

Thanks Lan wouldn't of thought of changing a stalk.

no problems glad to be of help, and yeah i've had a few stalks go

i would try a stalk as i had mine go that would only let me get full beam on

yeah a stalk is a good idea, i tried everything and didnt even think about trying it until Lan mentioned it. Now works a treat
