Part 2170.09 Lever Pin

Recommended Posts

lemmingzappa

I recently ordered this at the local dealer to replace my old pin (on the left) but it doesn't fit the L linkage with bronze bushes fitted.

Is that the case, or should the internal size be the same size as the original plastic linkage bush ? I wanted to replace the old pin as I assumed it wasn't the correct part ?

The one on the right is the correct part. I've never personally had any bronze gear quadrant bushes that fit correctly. The standard plastic ones are cheap and work fine.

The smooth upper part of the pin below the head is way too wide and won't fit inside the bronze bush. But the incorrect part is slim enough to fit.

the bronze bush kits from Miles/BBM uses a machined steel sleeve rather than a larger shanked bolt,

Ah yeah just remembered that it has the internal sleeve, no idea where I got the old bolt from though as it wasn't part of my kit ^_^

Is the sleeve there to create less friction ? I assume if I took the sleeve out and fitted the new pin inside the bronze bushes it won't turn smoothly enough ?

the sleeve is for the bushes to turn on, and so that a standard M10 bolt can be used.
