Standard 205 Horn Pic? And Connector Identification

Recommended Posts

Weser

As the title really I wondered if anyone has a photo of the standard horn.

My looks like some sort of air horn. It doesn't work but I wondered if its standard or not?

here it is:

Also I have found a red connector on the loom around the NS headlight. Where the washer motor connector and stuff is. It is a 2 pin connector. Anyone have any idea what this is? I can get a photo tonight if its needed but thought someone might know.

Thanks Andy

Looks like the normal 1.9 twin air horn. I gave up with these years ago as they are unreliable.

Fit a stibel nautilus the loudest electric horn around that sounds like air horns.

yup, that's a standard 1.9 airhorn

red connector is a spare in most models, I think its related to the fan system on turbo diesels or aircon cars.

stripping the compressor down and cleaning it will normally make it work, as well as replacing the earth wire and terminals.

Ahh ok thanks for the info. I want to try to keep it standard wso will have a go at stripping down the compressor. If I have no luck I will go with the stibel nautilus. Ahh just wondered what the red one was for.

Thanks.

I didn't realise the standard ones were like that.

Mine looks to have been retrofitted in the 90s on a bracket under the headlight panel. Uses a black positive connector similar to the strut top earth ones, I presume this is the standard postive feed?

Mine is very quiet so I need to replace it at some point. I have some 306 ones I may make use of. Just need to find the correct wiring plug that the 306 uses to join to the 205 loom.

Sounds like a standard 205 horn, all models got the same horn except the 1.9 GTI which is the air horn type as above.

I just replaced my 405 one. The compressor nearly looks the same as that one. I replaced mine with a unipart one from e-bay. It was a direct fit. It cost mé just a tenner. You could buy this and just use the compressor. The original one costs over £150 or something stupid..
