Bbc Show About Group B Rally

I thought it a bit ironic that Ceasar Fiorio said he put safety first then put two fuel tanks under his drivers! However you look back at what Colin Chapman used to do in F1 and that was much worse! Unfortunately it used to take deaths to increase safety in both the cars and events. However I stopped going to watch the WRC as it was so risk averse you stood miles away from the cars behind plastic tape whilst the world and its dog had a photographer tabbard on and stood on the apex (though I took my son to Wales this year to see Loeb and Meeke in action in the same way I was taken to see Vatanen, Rohrl and Waldegaard etc in Stratos' and Group B's).

Nothing I had not seen before but a new (if slightly negative) twist

Having watched this item, i have found nothing i did not know. I have two Duke dvds which tells the whole story. They are called Too fast to race and Still too fast to race , both well worth watching ! I think the bbc showed that because they may be feeling guilty about their lack of motor sport coverage and tried to fob people off with some thing old and cheap ! In any case true rally fans know all this stuff and its nothing new ! :)

I still find it astonishing that they were able to drive those outrageous cars down a six foot wide corridor of people at 'maximum attack' with just their pace notes to tell them what was going on twenty feet in front of them. That took real balls (although where Michele Mouton kept hers is anybody's guess...).

A lot of well used clips rohrl/Quattro especially but ultimately a good show. Very enjoyable and a trip down memory lane with Steve rider commentary, saturday grandstand when I was about 11 years old!!

Definitely, lots of regurgitated material with a pretty poor narrator that didn't pronounce names well and i felt it was a little damning to the sport, despite as said above, WRC is quicker these days, perhaps because it wasn't aimed at rally fans, more of a general audience?

Ballestre was a moron, as said no idea about motorsport at all. The very same reason many accidents and stupid decisions were made in F1 at the same time.
