Dash Wiring

Recommended Posts

Hi.

Some wiring has already been taken out from my clocks but I would like to try and remove to the bear minimum, thought I would check what is needed first.

On the back of the clocks I have what is left, 4 connectors in one line, grey, blue, green and white (from left to right looking at the clocks from the drivers seat and a fifth smaller connector.)

The wires I have:

Grey Block - 2 Grey (30 & 65A), 1 Blue (65)

Blue Block - 1 Green (69A), 1 Brown (7A)

Green Block - 1 Yellow (47B), 1 Green/Yellow (M3), 1 Pink or Brown (7A)

White Block - 1 Red (30A), 1 Green (30B), 1 Yellow (47), 1 Blue (47a)

The smaller fifth connector has, 1 Brown (32B) and 2 large green wire which I cannot see a number on.

All I will eventually be running is water temp, oil pressure and revs so my question is can somebody help with all of the other wires that I can remove without causing any side effects on the car running.

Many Thanks

Jon

Hi

I have been looking through some wiring diagrams and wires I should be able to move are:

30 - Oil pressure lamp (I have the gauge)

47B - Coolant level lamp

65A - Fuel warning

47 - Water temperature lamp

7A - Ignition Lamp

Any other thoughts...

Thanks

Jon

You'll need to keep the ignition lamp (or make other modifications) otherwise you're likely to have charging issues - no lamp and the alternator won't start charging until you rev the engine high enough for it to self-excite.

Personally, I'd keep the warning lights for low oil pressure and high coolant temperature and wire them to a great big red light - it's easy to not notice a gauge move in the heat of the moment, but a huge red light will get your attention.
