Mi16 No Power

Recommended Posts

Will Eastman

At the end of an mi16 engine transplant into my ph2 1.6 and having trouble with the electrics. At one point i was getting it to turn over but now im getting nothing, not interior/dash lights...

No idea how to start fault finding, all wiring is connected including brown multiplugs and ecu...

Anyone got any ideas of where to start. I tried testing voltage from the big red wire (i think ecu switched power) but not got anything.

Also tested volts across the to starter motor connections and got a const 12ish volts, which struck me as odd.

Do any of the interior/body electrics work? Clock, stereo, headlights etc?

If not, check the wiring around the shuntbox as that's what feeds the fusebox and in turn the majority of the electrics. Everything on the shuntbox should be 12v constant.

Just to add, The car had power the night before these issues, it was turning over. The wiring loom which is fitted has a green injector style plug wired in, with 3 wires going to it, which gives 9.5v's ~ when it was cranking. Also the fuelpump wiring is intact and was 'continuous' when tested, but not getting any power.

The multiplugs under the dash were all fine as I checked them to be correct

just to update this a bit - the power was due to a broken cable on the shunt box! awaiting next update!
