406 Hdi Brake Fouling On Hub

Recommended Posts

Flozman

Hi Chaps, I went for a trip to the scrappy yesterday and found a 406 with brand new 288 mm discs, brand new pads and very good condition calipers. However they seem to be fouling all over the place. What do I have to do to make them fit?

Thanks very much for any help.

F.Y.I. I have base model hubs

406 sourced brakes generally aren't used for that very reason.

306 stuff is straight bolt on, so not sure if you were getting confused with that?

as you have found, they don't fit a 205/306/309 hub.

the radius of the caliper carrier mounting lugs is larger, as well as a much lower offset.

take them back, find a 306/206/307 to rob the brakes from.

No they are 406 brakes, after a bit of trial I found the offset problem was solved when I bolted on my 266mm disc (keep in mind these are not as thick).

I've had a good look at it and it looks like I only have to shave a few mil off to have it line up with the lugs?

please stop now and take them back!

266mm will be too small, both in diameter and width.
