Fuel Line - Filter To Rail

Recommended Posts

jonb_5

Hi

The fuel line in my car from the filter to the rail has some back insulation tape around it and looks a little old so am going to replace it, can anyone tell me what size i need to order, if not I will removed and measure....

Should I just replace with rubber or would braided hose be better?

Thanks

Jon

8mm ID (internal diameter)

Rubber is fine.

Buy decent jubilee clips or similar to hold it together.

You can buy braided from

torques.co.uk

Size is AN6

Looks nice but starts to get pricey, especially when you use proper fittings

What engine? 8v's are 6 or 7mm (can't remember which now), Mi16's are 8mm and GTi-6's are 10mm.

I personally find standard rubber hose fine, and has the benefit that you can easily see if it's starting to perish. Make sure you get hose that's specified for fuel injection though, as carb hose won't be rated to the required pressure.

Make sure you get hose thats suitable for unleaded too, you'll be amazed at how much of it isn't.
