Broken Clutch On Xs

Recommended Posts

Miguelhbx

Hey guys, my XS broke it's clutch last sunday, and the pages that explain how to replace it are missing from the haynes manuel i've got.

I just wanted to know the procedings and what tools will I need , to see if I can fix it home or I need to take it to the shop.

And other thing, starting next month, this car will go from daily driver, to a night-only and weekend car, and I usually just beat the crap out of the thing, will a regular replacement clutch ( I'm getting a LUK one) deal with for a few more years or should I reeinforce it (and if so, how?)

Thanks

be careful when removing the bolts that attach the gearbox to the block, I managed to wreck most of mine last time and had to get the angle grinder out. I then replaced them with some new ones

Chapter 6 is also missing from that version...

It's weird that all the versions available lack the same chapter.

So, about the tools, is there anything "unregular" that I need to have?

For instance, taking out the gearbox, i'm going to need something to support it under the car?

a block of wood and a trolley jack i found works quite well. and maybe a crowbar to help split the box from the block. and lots of lubrication of some sort.

i found they helped when i did mine
