HI.

have got a rear beam to work to replace the one on my car on and trying to remove the T-40 star bolts in the torsion bars but they wont shift. before they get mullered, any advise on freeing them up? I dont have a welder/torch though, but have a little plumbers gas torch.

Cheers

Martyn

Impact driver is what you need. Gets them out 99% of the time.

I had a couple that had rounded completely so I drilled it a bit and smacked in a larger torx head they came straight out.

for those that a torx bit did not want to grip, a sharp cold chisel cracked them off and could be wound out by finger.

the t30 torx bolts are the real PITA, but i've never not undone them

usually a good whack with some round bar and hammer will loosen the thread, and as welshpug says, a chisel should just actually undo it

Got them both out one with the impact drivers, the other one I resulted to a bigger Torx bit. Thanks for the advice. Just soaking the offset washer as full crud n rust.
