Where Were Our Cars Built?

Recommended Posts

Hey everybody,

Thought it might be nice to have a look and see if I can find out where our cars were all built.

My Dad used to work at Ryton and has always lead me to believe the 205 was assembled at Villaverde, Madrid but he's not 100% sure.

There are other factories in Spain and I'm wondering if anyone knows for definite where they were all built or if they were built in a number of locations?

I quite fancy the idea of driving mine back to wherever it was assembled (Villaverde is about 1200 miles from the middle of Leicester), taking a photo and driving back :P

If anyone has any info' on the assembly location(s) I'd be grateful to hear it.

Ian.

Sochaux, France as Welshpug mentioned.

Remember that manufactured date and registered date are two different things though, sometimes just weeks apart, sometimes months or even over a year. That's why you get loads of non-CAT 92/93 K-reg 205's for example and why you'll come across other oddities that don't make sense on the face of it.

AFAIK = As Far As I Know.

would my 92' 1.6 gti qualify as late or do you mean after production of 1.6's was stopped?
