Rear Beam Rebuild Cost

Recommended Posts

starky5

Just a quick one, has anyone recently fully rebuilt a 205 rear beam? Mine is suffering so im just wondering if you save enough money refurbing your own beam to make it worth the effort.

So realistically how much does it cost to rebuild a beam?

anywhere between £40 orr for the bearings and seals alone, to £200 for the shafts and bearings and a few fixings, add more for a donor beam tube if required.

ok, ive seen auto 5 sell rebuilt rear beams for £360 so doing it myself would save a fair bit on their prices. Do you know anywhere else that sells recon beams?

that'd cost you about £60 from a pug dealer  (as does that guy, he gets it all from a dealer in Maidenhead)

guide prices from Servicbox, multiply by 2 of course, and if you don't damage the screws etc then you can disregard those as well.

515409 CUP 1.45 GBP

515410 CROSSMEMBR SEAL 2.80GBP

515311 CROSSMEMB SCREW 0.62 GBP

513262 SOCKET 17.78GBP

515312 SUSP BAR WASHER 0.82 GBP

517403 CROSSMEMBR SEAL 2.82 GBP

Glad I asked too.

I was toying with the idea of taking the bearings over to one of the many bearing factors in Huddersfield, to see if they can find a match. (They should be way cheaper than the dealer)

If I had the part numbers it would be easier.

Ive' been looking on INA product finder, but had no luck so far, I'm starting to think they're special.

Edit: sorry the sizes are 47x53x22 and 42x49x22 that we need.

I don't think £17 ish is too bad for two sealed needle roller bearings and a seal myself.

That what socket is then?

Servicebox ref I'm guessing.

I'll get them from dealer then.

Looks like I need a new shaft for one of the trailing arms.

Any ideas on how much I should be paying for one?

£90 on ebay!

they are about that much from pug.

I think martin (crf450) and allan (allanallen) at bridgecraft engineering were looking into producing them, don't know what the outcome of that was.

Well I managed to pick up everything today except the metal ring that holds the seal in place.

Part number 515410

The specialist (Dean Hunter) told me these aren't available, Not sure where else to ask other than the dealer.

Anyone know where I could get a pair?

you'll only get those from a dealer or as part of an aftermarket kit possibly

i'm pretty sure if you bought most parts from dean hunter, you'd of gotten them cheaper from peugeot main dealer

Just bought a full set from my main dealer cost me almost £280 for 2 trailing arm shafts part number 5176 17 @ £78.29 each and all the bearings and seals, and the cups part number 5154 09 you can get them from dealers but only in packs of 5 so i have 3 to sell on :) and the metal ring seal that holds everything in place part number 5154 10 are £2.80 each

If someone went and bought all new parts to rebuild an axle, it's more around £380 inc vat
