Gaz Gha Adjusting

Recommended Posts

johnnyboy666

this might seem like a daft question, but as my new GAZ GHA coilovers dont have a 'user guide' as such I'm a little unsure as to how the adjustability bit works.

Theres a knob that goes on top of the hex bit on the top of the shaft with directions for +/- , but what I'm not sure on is:

- should it 'click' to signify each setting of just turn a certain amount?

- how many settings are there?

- how do you know which one it is on?

- is there anything to signify the lowest/highest setting

I assume when you know how many settings there are you can just click it down to the lowest and then click it upwards to the desired setting?

thanks in advance!

John

Not sure how relevant this'll be to you but I have golds on my Bmw and the knob on the struts is damping strength ie soft ride to back braking..

On the road I run fully soft.

thanks, I thought i'd probably need a low setting for road, but its trying to find out what setting they are on curently that is confusing me!

Keep turning it anti clockwise (soft) until it stops while counting to see what theyre set at. then turn it clockwise (hard) until it stops, counting again to find how high it goes..

Repeat for the rears.

Will they just stop clicking when they are at the highest/lowest setting then?

i found about 8 front and 12 rear was a reasonably sensible setting for normal road driving.

go for about 15 front and 20 rear if you want it a bit stiffer.

ok, so gave it a go and i can tell where the top setting and bottom setting are but theres no clicking getting from one to the other, just smooth movement the whole way, so Im asuming the click just signifies a degree of turning, and if I turn them both the same amount they should be on the same setting?

i would say, that the stiffness is not 1:1 so 8 on the front is similar to 12 on the back.

was your engine running? the clicking is quite subtle and definitely not noticeable with the engine on.

While we're on the topic, what height range adjustment do the usual 9" 185 lbs springs allow?

My GAZ GHA were supplied with 225lb springs 9" long. I have since changed to 275's to suit my rear bars.
