Excluding The 205, Whats Your Favorite Hot Hatch?

It has got to be the mk1 UNO turbo I.e in red for me. I've always had a soft spot had them since I was younger. A boy from around my way has a mk2 with a 2.0 8v turbo engine.

A few more missed out, some a little leftfield,

Astra Mk1 GTE

Alfasud

Strada 130TC

MG Metro Turbo

R5 Gordini

Renault 11 Turbo

MG Maestro Turbo

Honda CRX VTEC

Toyota Corolla Twin Cam 16

Citroen Visa GTI 115ch

Lancia Y10 Turbo

Mazda 323 Turbo 4WD

I always fancied one of these.

Are they significantly different in terms of engine/brakes/suspension?

The Williams 1 was the lightest of the three due to the fact it had no electric sunroof, electric mirrors, ABS etc and was the only model to feature a plague with the build number on the dashboard.

Also, it had a different interior style with regards to the seats. All other aspects with regards to engine, suspension and driveability were the same.

However, rot on the rear arches and cost of parts make it a little prohibitive.

No

Few small differences to the trim on the outside, same engine brakes etc... Then extra things put on the 2 and 3 that I can't remember to hand...

Nope I'm really not I have been through a lot of the hot hatches before settling on the fiesta. strong engine, predictable handling wet and dry. brakes are good with the right pads build and trim level high enough with out impacting on the definition of a "hot hatch". Doesn't have the functions that you don't want like all the traction and stability control. lift off oversteerable if you know what you are doing.

Is what I thought! Just tonight I saw on facebook a kiddy's ST drank all it oil and ruined the engine, then lots of people commenting on how loads have done it! I really dislike them, not denying they go round corners well or anything, just look horrible.

I don't like small cars really - I've always thought that little Proton that came out a few years ago looked pretty stylish - not sure how they drive though.

Had Lotus "developed" suspension..tidy handler. I remember it getting a mention in the What Car awards a good few years back.

I love sunbeams, when I first saw ronchettii's I did a little wee.

Always loved intergales and I've got a strange attraction to polo g40s and the original Suzuki swift gtis......

From what i'v heard the handling is still no where near as good as the equivalent french hatchbacks (205 gti, 106gti, 306gti, clio sport ect)

But then you can get a 04 proton for under a grand....

Not as good as standard no.

My brothers road rallycar is awesome but that's not standard, put the same bits on a 205(like mine has) and proton is better imo.

RS1600i, 106 Rallye S1, Clio Williams 1 in that order for me

I had a Mk3 Fiesta 1.6S as my first car and even tho it was a rot box I loved it, a bit of a sleeper! (XR2 engine in the newer body)
