Speedo Not Working?

Recommended Posts

Guest Stainpain

Anyone have any ideas why my speedo isn't working?

I've replaced the speedo cable but still no difference (mileage isn't going up either)

Thanks!

You're not going to like this.......... my bet is a broken plastic drive wheel ......it's in a housing off the diff where your erstwhile long shaft enters the box....no doubt the shaft has clobbered it and broken it! Only pennies from dealer, but a pain in the ass! as the shaft needs to come out again. While you're doing / getting that its as well to replace the drive dog as well ( the piece the speedo cable fits into) as this may well have chewed a few teeth too.

Steves got it! I recently changed my speedo drive gear due to it being inaccurate when it was working (read when!) When I took the old one out it was a bit chewed up.
