6 1.4Hdi - Throttle Problems

Just been in the garage cleaning up my 205 when my neighbour came around to ask if I could help with a problem with his 55 plate 206 1.4 HDi (non turbo).

 

Sometimes (and it's becoming almost always) when it is started, the engine idles ok but doesn't respond to the throttle pedal. Is this a fly by wire throttle pedal and could it be a fault with the switch/resistor in the pedal itself? He's had it down the garage and they've had it "on the computer" and it's showing no faults.

 

Any help would be gratefully received!

Must be the pedal end cause diesels don't suffer if there's fuel going in at the pump end. Mind you I've only ever owned a car with a throttle by wire so could be wrong but I'd say it'd be something to do with the pedal end.... tell your mate to get on TDOCUK.com. it could be throttle pedal but best way to check would be with diagnostic equipment and check actual values whilst operating the pedal and then check with an scope to see if working properly.you could find him a local bosch car service centre they will now how to do this and they dont charge to much

the 1.4 is turbocharged, its the DW8 that isn't.

 

IIRC there's two types of throttle pedal, one with a cable and a potentiometer in the engine bay, and a fully electronic throttle no cable at all, either can be tested as mentioned above though.
