Toad Alarm Removal

Recommended Posts

Has anyone had the joy of doing this?

How hard is it to remove? I've had a look at where the wires go and it looks like there's a separate ecu type thing for it/ someones rammed a lot of wires into one place

Depends how well it was installed - usually, they're easy enough to remove because the original install was so slap-dash.

If you've already found the alarm/immobilser module, then just follow all the wires in turn and either remove them (if they're just tee'd off a feed wire, like the ignition) or by finding both ends of the wires that have been cut for the immobiliser and rejoining them so they no longer run through the alarm unit.

The better the install, the harder it is to find the alarm module in the first place and the harder it is to trace the wiring and to rejoin any wires.

(also, if you're removing it with a plan to reusing it, make sure you label the wires as you disconnect them as otherwise you're pretty much stuff with just a load of random black wires when you come to refit!)

Do people often want to buy alarms? Cause that'd be the only reason I'd want to re use it

Yo,

Basically I just don't like alarms..... and my cars insured to be in Harrogate but it lives in Ambleside. So when i go home it's insured so I won't have to worry too much about it getting nicked ;)

Unsure as to what model it is but yeah it'll be for sale if i don't butcher it getting it out.

As far as I'm aware it's got door and movement sensors. And then it has a little fob that you put in before you have to start the car.

It works for sure though.
