Does My 205 Appreciate All The Hard Work Done To Keep It On The Road?

No it doesn't, absolutely not!

Spent all of last summer off the road. It was treated to a Peter T inlet cam and bbm vernier pullies. Got it running beautifully and how does it repay me?

Well first of all there were 2 pages of advisories on the mot!

Then it decided to destroy the cv boot.

Then it started to leak air out of the rear tyre valve

Then it decided to keep stalling because of a mysterious electrical fault which turned out to be the black power distribution box thing.

Then it blew one of the front speakers.......

......followed by the radio.

Then it decided to leak oil from the cooler (but the side that faces the radiator not the front facing side!)

Then it blew the head gasket.

And to round it all off it wouldn't accept a head bolt and stripped the thread in the block!

And yet I still love it!

Just keep whittling away at the jobs list as they al stack up on the end.

Since mine was "finished" I've discovered several jobs I need to do. Will be very nice if I ever get past the repair stage and can just do maintenance.

I share your pain, just remember it's French, probably female, and very high maintainence.

It loves the attention and abuse with equal measure.

You need to remind it who's boss.

Park it outside the scrapyard in clear sight of the cubed cars and walk away to remind it of what'll happen if it doesn't buck up its ideas...

My girlfriend absolutely hates my 205!

Anyway, was working on the car in the dark, I got it running but when I was bolting the exhaust back onto the manifold I didn't realise the exhaust gasket had fallen on the floor because I couldn't see much! Thought it was taking ages to tighten! So started her up and quite a lot of smoke! But it was too hot to put back on so it'll have to wait until tomorrow!

Seemed to be running fine but my oil pressure gauge isn't working now so will have to investigate. At least it's running now.

Anthony, you might be right, a trip to the scrap yard may teach it some lessons - as long as it makes it there in the first place!
