Can Anyone Shed Any Light On My Rear Cti Lights?

Hi folks, am currently in the middle of a rattle can paintjob,semi full restoration and possible turbo conversion, ive replaced my boot lid as it had a massive dent in it. But looking at it im wondering if its the right bootlid as it seems to be frowning proud of the rear lights, Ive still got the old boot and temporarily swapped it back and its exactly the same. Can anyone shed any light on whats going on here or has anyone else noticed this? It looks like the rear end has had a shunt at first glance but its as straight as new everywhere. Surely this cant be normal as its looks odd. Also is there some restriction on posting a restoration thread? I cant post a new thread seeing as im new.

That looks right... have had a few CTi,s all have had the same rear light / boot shut

Ok thanks i wasnt sure if it had something to do with the lights maybe missing a thick gasket round the back of them to bring them flush with the bootlid.
