1.9 Rear Bleed Nipple Original Size

Recommended Posts

BlueBolt

I've just been having a look through my search results and have found this thread, and a few others like it, which are a bit vague about the original size of bleed nipples in the 1.9 rear calipers.

I then went to Servicebox, but could not find a part number, and am a still trying to get used to it and find my way around it...

Is there a specific part number for them?? I've managed to free up one side, but the other has spun in the socket and I am going to have to get it out another way...

Was wondering if anyone knew the part number I need from Pug, or failing that the size that I need, banking on the fact that I don't need to tap it out obviously.

Both sides are the same and as such I am assuming that they are original.

Should there not be a part number per say, how do I check the difference between M7 M8 etc?? Is it the width of the thread, or the width of the bolt or what??

From Wikipedia-

The nominal diameter of a metric screw is the outer diameter of the thread. The tapped hole (or nut) into which the screw fits, has an internal diameter which is the size of the screw minus the pitch of the thread. Thus, an M6 screw, which has a pitch of 1 mm, is made by threading a 6 mm shank, and the nut or threaded hole is made by tapping threads into a hole of 5 mm diameter (6 mm - 1 mm).

Rear caliper nipple is M7. However try to get it out first, as unless you are bloody good you will snap it where it is, have to drill it, and often have to go up to an M8 nipple to reclaim the caliper.
