Have a new gaiter that i'd like to fit but how is the standard knob removed without damaging it?

Thanks

The end of the gearstick is barbed, so it doesn't unscrew as such, but if you twist it back and forth while pulling then it should come off.

James, I replaced my gaiter by carefully pulling it over the gearknob, so no need to remove it - is it one of those £8 ebay leather ones? If so they fit over the 'knob.

If the knob is anything like mine then it won't come off no matter how hard you twist and pull.. I had to cut mine off! The one i'm replacing it with came off a 206 stick very easily though..
