Baker Silicone Hose Plumbing Layout

Recommended Posts

cRaig

Hello,

Im currently trying to finish off the plumbing on my 1.9 XU, and its been at least a couple of years since I took all the pipes off, so my memory is quite hazy. It doesnt help that the replacement hoses I have- the Baker BM silicone hoses, have been living in a box jumbled with the silicone oil breather and sad hoses- so trying to worth out what is what from scratch hasnt been easy.

I have been making progress- but am struggling with these two hoses:

The lower heater matrix pipe in particular- when connected to the bulkhead, the hose seems to finish somewhere around the dizzy, but there isnt anything to connect to, as the ph. 2 has the output flange on the side infront of the SAD. Have I got the right hose, or is there a different hose for Ph1/2, as I know the earlier cars have a different water distribition block.

Also, I have no idea where the little '8v hose goes'

And which connectors on the bottom of the throttle body are used, and where do they go? Or do people just blank them off?

Thanks

Craig

that's a phase 1-1.5 kit, phase 2's didn't have a separate water housing that the SAD bolted to, so the hose goes direct to the thermostat housing without the "8v sad pipe"

the "8v lower heater matrix pipe" goes to the water distribution block on the rear of the water pump.

Right, so which hose goes from the heater matrix to the thermostat housing? I cant see any of those hoses which looks like it fits nicely. Both the top and lower heater matrix hoses look long enough to get from the heater matrix to the distribution block by the water pump, but the thermosat housing is futher away. Sorry if it doesnt make sense, Im still rather confused!

Thanks,

Craig

the top heater matrix pipe goes to the thermostat housing, but the one pictured isn't the right one for a phase 2

look at the MI16 kit :)

Ah, right. That explains why Im struggling then. Do you happen to know if Stew does a different hose? The website suggests the kit fits 84-94, which is why I was confused.

yarp, I guess you've had the kit for a while? IIRC the hose comes with the additional bend now and if used on an earlier car you cut the hose down to suit.

best bet is to give Stew a call :)

Ah, that makes sense. Yeah, Ive had the kit kicking around in its box for a couple of years now. Will drop him a line and see how I get on

Thanks for your help :)

Before you do, check whether the hose that goes from metal pipe on the wing to the rear coolant distribution block is correct, as this too changed depending on whether you have a plastic or an alloy rear coolant distribution block.
