Sleeve Fit Backbox On Phase 2?

Hey all, Please forgive my lack of knowledge in advance

Ive got a '92 k plate 1.6 gti which i removed the aftermarket back box from today because it was ridicously massive and stupid looking. (Fitted by a previous owner).

I thought that phase 2 models were olive fitment but this backbox sleeved over the mid section. I havnt a clue to what system is on the car. The backbox pipe that sleeves over the mid has a diameter of 2inches. Would a standard sized sleeve fit backbox fit to the centre exhaust? And would this be ok?. All i wanted was to buy and fit a standard sized backbox.

All Phase 2's should be 2-piece olive fitment systems (well, CAT's are 3 piece - but still olive fit)

 

Yours might have an earlier 3-piece system fitted instead which are sleeve fit, or it could have something non-standard / aftermarket on there - without knowing that, it is hard to say what will and won't fit unfortunately because as a general rule, a standard backbox won't fit a non-standard mid-pipe.

Ive been searching through the history and reciepts and stuff i had with the car and ive came across an old warranty card from powerflow for a centre section fitted back around 8yrs ago. The cars been off the road mostly since so im guessing thats it. Also it is a 2 piece system as Anthony said but the backbox was a sleeve fit and its a real throw back to the max power days it has to be ditched
