Catch Picture Request

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have a picture of their bonnet catch from directly above, or would be kind enough to pop out and get one?

My bonnet has been tempermental for a while and would take some welly to push down to click into place so I adjusted the catch position yesterday and now it's even worse! It will shut in one soft push, but the interior catch lever won't release it so I have to shake the bonnet to allow the slight movement to release it.

It appears that the lever is not quiet pulling the catch over to the right enough, so adjustments may be required to the cable join on the catch, but I'm reluctant to adjust that and make it even worse as it was fine ages ago in the current position.

If I could see a pic of roughly where the catch should be (my slam panel was painted so can't use old marks) I can go from there. The 2 10mm bolt adjustments move the catch inside a fair bit, so im interested to see how far in the inner catch sits with the bonnet open.

If someone has a pic it would be great. :)

Yeah that's helpful thanks.

My catch seems to go over that far inside so haven't made adjustments to the cable.

The outside catch fixing is slightly wonky now, but after 4 hours of faffing, it finally shuts easily enough and will actually release again which it wouldn't before.

I will have another fiddle to get it perfect in future, but I need to use the car this week so getting it to actually operate was my main concern.

I still need to push the bonnet down with my palm, and the slam panel up with my fingers slightly which isn't ideal. Means I can't run with a grille. I extended the underside bonnet pin fixing which I thought may help, but it seems that the pin needs to go in dead straight to locate and the catch ping in behind the taper.
