With the rules regarding road rallying throttle bodies or carbs for more power are out of the window and with the 205 gti inlet manifold you are limited to the amount of air you can get in there is there any other manifold that can be grafted or used to fit this to increase air flow, fueling i pressume wouldnt be a problem as bigger injectors could be used after all the likes of throttle bodies still use injectors in various sizes dependant on fuel required. The engine will be run on dta with a decent spec build any ideas or info folks also what engine uses the steel crank is it any xu diesel or just certain ones.

You can use split carbs on a road rally if you want. Twins are a no-no. Throttle bodies are deffinately a no go.

I'd look to graft on a slightly larger throttle body, if you run it on DTA it'll cope with a lumpy cam much better than the original AFM system does, my MAP sensor equipped Bosch MP3.1 copes with a mild cam fine.

it did "run" the 285 gravel rally cam, though far from ideal, went like stink when it got past 2k, it wouldn't have had a hope in hell of idling with an AFM!

raised compression and I think it'd be ok.

Or you could sell your DTA and fit a standard 16v engine..........

ive owned sixteen valvers before and all needed revving the car im doing is for road rallying so i want power low down an eight valve in my opinion has more torque low down i went out in a 205 mi16 last week a road rally car and yes it was quick but all the power was at high revs not really my thing each to there own i suppose and with rules changing all the time i feel that maybe the 16v will maybe become a thing of the past in road rallying. At least an 8v was meant to be in a 205 so im hoping if any rule change with regard to engines ect the standard type meant for that car should be ok

Are you allowed modified or different throttle bodies?

Some proton chaps put the evo 3 throttle body on which isn't allowed, surely this applies to all makes?

From what you say Hudson yours is going to be quick enough!lol

A slightly more descriptive thread title usually gets more responses. Not having a dig just pointing it out :)

a 16v will have more power and torque throughout the rev range so will be quicker without revving hard, they hwve a lot more up the revs which is why specifically the 1.9 mi feel peaky.

cam timing makes quite a difference too

I was under the impression the engine has to retain the original inlet setup and management but that could of changed when they altered the ruleing to allow engine conversions.

8 valves do not have more low down tourque than 16 valvers. Fact

They may give you the impression of having more through the seat of your pants but they don't I'm afraid.

Edit, welshpug beat me to it :P

Know what you mean about keeping the original engine though. With the way things are going with rules and regs it wouldn't suprise me.Can easilly get enough power out of an 8v,especially mated with a 4.4/4.8 cwp.

I would say you have to 'stretch the legs' on the 16v's.

if you ant to go REALLY fast sure, but to just go faster, short shifting is enough :D
