BlueBolt 156 Posted February 28, 2012 How do I go about checking on a car... I've been asked if I want a car, but I want to know more about it, like if its taxed etc before I go and see it... I know there is a way to check on the DVLA site, but can't seem to find it anywhere... Anyone able to share a link with me please?? Thanks
m_attt 31 1 Cars Posted February 28, 2012 go on the page were you can tax the car online, and one of the options is vehicle check, that shows if its taxed, askmid for insurance check and if yo go on vosa site you can look at mot history if you have the logbook number. Anthony 1,003 Posted February 28, 2012 It's on the direct.gov.uk website, that's why https://www.taxdisc.direct.gov.uk/EvlPortalApp/app/home/intro?skin=directgov It's the "Vehicle Enquiry" button on the left.
BlueBolt 156 Posted February 28, 2012 Thank you Will that give me any other details about the car?? I've been told it's a GT TDI Golf, but not sure which BHP it is (girl selling) and I know they released several different power output ones...
BlueBolt 156 Posted February 28, 2012 Excellent, thank you Antony, do you have a link to the VOSA one for checking the MOT's etc too??
Baz 421 Posted February 29, 2012 You do know this is the internet right? Google really is a handy internet tool and will give you the answers quicker than waiting for replies on an internet forum.
welshpug 1,657 Posted February 29, 2012 indeed! especially a peugeot 205 one asking about a lardy boring vw ps, usually you can tell the bhp by the letters on the back, red i is 110, red di is 130, red tdi was 150, only applied to the mk4 though, but a similar system is used on most vw'd
BlueBolt 156 Posted February 29, 2012 (edited) Baz:: Yes mate, I do know this, but was drawing a blank from goole, so thought I'd ask on here... Must have been askin the wrong question or something... WP:: yea I know it's a dirty sluggy dub, but I'm only getting it to flip a profit on... The red lettering isn't right like that though, my dads one has the red i and is only a 90... The di and the tdi one's are like this, same as in the Seat range (mines a full red Leon) and others, but to find the difference between the 90, 110, 115 etc then it's a bit more difficult... They released about as many variations of the tdi as they have 911's lol (null) Edited February 29, 2012 by BlueBolt
BusEngineer 7 Posted February 29, 2012 You do know this is the internet right? Google really is a handy internet tool and will give you the answers quicker than waiting for replies on an internet forum. Just not that useful a comment is it that? And i dont see asking a question on a forum to be a problem, if you dont want to answer Baz . . . .Dont! If people keep shooting others down no one will dare ask anything and then this popular and usually useful forum will not be worth visiting It getting really sad continually coming on here and seeing people lambasted for asking questions (whether it appears daft or not!) on a forum, surely thats the nature of the beast! Rant over, have a nice day
Baz 421 Posted February 29, 2012 Nope, not useful at all i appreciate that. I just really don't understand why people ask very simply instantly self-answered questions like this and wait for an answer on a forum when if you just type 'vehicle check' on google or similar, the vosa/dvla link is right there. It really isn't rocket science and otherwise this is what some would call spamming/trolling and adding to their post count. I don't reply to many threads i see these days that have been already covered to the umpteenth degree or could be discovered very simply with a bit of nouse and a lot less laziness, but this is the second similar post i've seen Bluebolt post in around a week, with all due respect to him. 1 FAT PUG 39 Posted February 29, 2012 dam it, wished i had checked my 205 when i went to buy it, was advertised with tax but when i got there there wasnt any in the window, they was a little pissed at the price i paid so i think they cashed it in being funny
BlueBolt 156 Posted February 29, 2012 this is the second similar post i've seen Bluebolt post in around a week, with all due respect to him. What was the other one?? I thought about how this thread was titled so that if anyone was to search it on here then it would flag up easy enough... I did do a Google search, but like I already said, I obviously didn't ask the right question... You keep banging on about people using threads like this to bump up their count, but what exactly does a higher count give me other than a high number under my name?? I'm way past the stage of trying to post in the forsale and wanted sections, so what use is a high number to me..?? To my view, the amount that you bang on about it seems like you're trying to bump up your own count by bitching about me, and others apparently doing so...?? Seriously fella, I appreciate that google isn't the hardest thing in the world to use, and that you may have a problem with people posting on here without your consent or without adhering to your special rules, but I kinda have to agree with what has already been said:: Just not that useful a comment is it that? And i dont see asking a question on a forum to be a problem, if you dont want to answer Baz . . . .Dont! If people keep shooting others down no one will dare ask anything and then this popular and usually useful forum will not be worth visiting I'm guessing that I've done something to piss you off at some point, and therefore have no problem in not making any comment to any of your threads, and as such would appreciate if you too would show me the same courtesy?? This isn't meant to sound moody, I'm just feeling like I'm meeting the "keyboard hard-man" of this forum who likes to kick the crap out of anyone they feel the need to when they can... Anyway, rant over!! Thank you to all those who have put a useful reply to me, and the PM's that I have had back about it too... Glad we're not all wally's all the time
Alastairh 47 Posted February 29, 2012 nice. this has highlighted my 205 hasnt been sorned in 18 months despite no love letters.
BlueBolt 156 Posted February 29, 2012 Glad the thread hasn't been a complete waste of time then
Baz 421 Posted February 29, 2012 I do apologise. i guess i'm just a moody bastard that's annoyed with getting older, or the whole world or maybe as you say you've pissed me off in a past life or something, so i'm the forum's 'keyboard hard man' to you, whatever that is. I guess it could never have been with good intention that i thought about trying to help people to help themselves from not only possibly appearing stupid but basically using their own head and what they have in front of them a little more efficiently. I'll have to learn to bite my tongue next time such a thought comes into my mind. I promise it won't happen again. (That last bit is a blatant lie.)
Anthony 1,003 Posted February 29, 2012 Original question has been answered and people have made their points, so I think this thread has served its purpose.
