Msii Trigger Setting

Recommended Posts

hatemgti

I have Mi16 with XU10 block using Megasquirt 2 V3 and wasted spark, now what is the trigger setting to use, i was using 114 degree, sometimes it runs and sometimes its makes misfire from the exhaust without starting. I read here http://www.taylor-eng.com/xu9j4/finding_tdc.html that its 78 degree can anybody confirm the right setting.

IIRC Sandy set Dcc's ecu to 114.

have you done a live reading of what happens when it doesn't start?

The ms ecu seems to be a little hit and miss.

Sometimes mine won't start then sometimes it will?

It tends to be better when it's run daily.

I can't recall what trigger angle I'm using of the top of my head. And the cars laid up for a couple of weeks.

If I get chance I'll connect the battery up and check tomorrow and let you know

Are you getting a clean vr signal? Run a log and put it through megalog viewers analyser

This was my first thought too.

I made some tests when I was using Megasquirt, and it fired up with very different trigger settings (from 108 to 120 degree). 114 was the best, however the CAPS says Motronic uses 115 degrees BTDC. ("..in addition, two of the pins are omitted at 115 degrees BTDC as a reference mark to TDC...")

Best to check it with a timing light.

TunerStudio has a quite good ignition logger to see what signal is coming from the crank sensor to the ECU.

114° is correct. Are you running MS Extra software ?

If yes you can send me your configuration file and i will check all the other settings.

My car is running quite good with the MS2 V3.57SMD on MS Extra :-)

hi guys,

could you try and help me with this. Im trying to setup my ms, currently had the trigger angle set to 60, which is obviously well off?

so anyway looking at ms settings, do i set it to +45 on the aditional trigger settings and then to 69 on the normal trigger angle to give a total 114 degrees? as it wont let you use higher than 90 degrees in the trigger setting box.

Also could somebody confirm what the trig A and trig B should be set to?

thanks
