Don't You Hate It When This Happens?

Someone, going round my building's parking space and looking for a free parking by taking up our spaces

instead of paying to park in the street or a large car park across the street, hit (or scraped) my nice

standard GTI yesterday. I was not amused to see it, especially as there were no contact details left <_<.

The worst of all is that the wing has sustained some damage too.

Bad news, even though you have made the effort to park your 205 in your own good spot, it still gets damaged. It looks like the wing is out of place and moved upwards somewhat, has the front panel been bent upwards at all ?

I hate the fact that people do that, they probably looked at it and thought "never mind its only an old banger anyway" that really gets me so angry. I hope you managed to get it sorted ok

Some people's lack of spatial awareness really pisses me off, and the lack of respect for other people's hard earned property.

A few months ago I was walking back to my car in Morrisons and saw a girl come in in a small hatchback. She tried to go in to a space at too tight an angle and caught her nearside on the corner of another parked car's rear bumper. Realising this she had stopped. I too had stopped in my tracks to watch this.

Next she reverses back out, and goes for another attempt. Catches his bumper again, and this time just carries on. She then parked in the space 1 in front and to the side of the car she had hit, either in ignorance of what she'd just done or perhaps to hide the fact that she'd done it (less obvious than if she'd just parked next to him). I was just stood there, mouth open, shaking my head in disbelief.

So I went to my car to chuck the shopping in and then started heading back to have words with her, but she'd dashed in to Morrisons by then. So I got a bit of paper and a pen from the Tabacco counter to write a wee note for the car she'd hit, which had a lovely thick scrape along the bumper. Just as I was about to write the note the owner came out so I told him what had happened. If I hadn't pointed it out, he'd have driven off oblivious and probably not noticed it until some time later.

Dunno what happened after that. Unsurprisingly, it was quite a young girl who did it so she'd probably not been driving long.

This.

...the lack of respect for other people's hard earned property.

...and this.

Accidents will happen and cars will occasionally get hit, and I think everyone accepts that, but it's that people will try and weasal out of making good the damage they've caused and just drive off that really annoys me. It's part of a much wider issue that that Josh has hit on, and that's a complete lack of respect for other peoples property

Hopefully the wing is salvageable Nik and you can source a replacement indicator and bumper (assuming the bumper isn't easily repairable)

last night i was looking for a street and was parked with dipped headlights on when a car pulled in front of me to reverse into a drive,i could not belive the mess she made of it and after 3 attemps she managed it.she then got out the car and had a go at me for blocking her drive[even though i was parked about 10 feet away] when i pointed this out to her she said

"well its hard for me to judge as i am blind in my left eye"

It is frustrating indeed when others damage your property and don't give a toss about it.

First week when I had the WRX, came back to the car park after skiing to find a nice big scratch on the bumper.

Even more annoying when someone deliberately damages your car.

At a paid car park in France with the same car, I parked in a place I was not supposed to park as I later found out (they had used tape to tape around some spaces as they were painting but the tape was hanging on the floor so I thought they had finished with the work).

A few hours later on my return, the car was tied around with tape and my rear wiper arm was smashed (not just the blade but the whole arm)!

Asking the guard to show me the footage from the cameras he said it is not possible and it has to be requested from the police and I am not supposed to have parked there.

I was pretty sure he was the fecker who did it and I went to the local police station.

Unfortunately, it was a saturday and to file a report I was told to go back on Monday.

I was only a visitor for the day and had I been a local I would have chased it further; I was furious for a while!

f***ing jealous pricks!

Winds me up people have little respect for others.

Personally I always park at the furthest end of the supermaket car park.

To avoid careless parkers and kids slamming doors into the paintwork.

That sucks, as several people have said, its the lack of resepct for other peoples belongings in our throw away culture that means they won't admit to damage unless they get caught.

I had a lucky escape a few years ago when a fiesta was parking next to my car in the supermarket & the wind took their door when they opened it & put a nice dent in my passenger door just as I returned to my car.

I wonder if I'd have found a note on my windscreen when I returned if I hadn't been nearby.

I always try to find a space away from every one, but some sod will always park next to you even in a nearly empty car park ! :)

no matter where you park someone will always try squeeze in beside you!

where i stay just now the spaces are massive, but you still get people parking right up tight to the car. it frustrates me!

cant wait to get the 205 back into a garage for overnight parking
