306 V6 Conversion

Recommended Posts

Evening all! I have tried a search, but it didnt like v6/306. Just wondering, how much work is it to fit the coupe v6 to a diesel 306, compared to a mi/gti6 into a 205? Much more work? I guess you need the v6 box and custom shafts? Does the engine fit on std/easly modified mounts?

Many thanks

Matt

I've done this twice, have a look through the projects section, I think both are in there, but in simple terms, shorten driveshafts, chop and lower subframe, move lower mount fork, buy/make top engine mount, pick a method of sorting the clutch (convert car to hydraulic, convert gearbox to cable or make an adaptor from the car's cable to the gearbox's hydraulic), use v6 rad, build exhaust, wire in (I can unlock the ecu if you need it doing), fit petrol pump in the tank, it drops straight in, plug should be there, enjoy!

I recommend fitting a stiffer lower mount bush, I didn't but really should have!

Yes, first I put it in a 1.4 ph1 306 then into a 1.9td 306 estate

Did one into a 306 Rallye, there's a thread on the 306gti6 forum, AdamB was the owner of that one, S616KDF.

great engine, 306 handled it a little better than the 205, still quite tight on space though, IMO a 405 would be much easier.

I already have a 306 estate straight diesel, so thats why i was thinking of it. Just realy want something quicker that i can put my foot down in at it actualy does something! Cant be arsed with a Gti6, i know its less hassle, but cant warrent it, as its a bit half arsed in a 306 estate in my opintion. There is a 306 with a v6 fitted on ebay! Hmmmm!
