5-Door 205, Cant Open Rear Door

Recommended Posts

as the title, the rear door on my 5-door will not open, the lock works if you pull/push it by hand, but not on the central locking. Also both the interior handle and exterior handle feel like they are moving the lock but it just wont open, have tried kicking it from the inside and crow bar from the outside with no luck. had a look behind the door card but cant see much or get great access. mot is next month so need to get it sorted. any help would be much appreciated.

regards

I had this on my passenger door. The lock however didnt work by hand or the central locking. I had to bang/thump the door catch area whilest pulling on the door pin. Eventually it popped up and then the door would open. I had to give the mechanism a hefty clean but once done it worked fine.

Sounds to me if everything feels like its working then the mechanism is really screwed? There must be some way of popping it open with the door card off but I do know the rear doors are harder to get to the lock!

ill give that a go, see if it works. And i pulled the door card off you cant really get at the lock its all tucked away with no holes in the metal near it especially when the door is closed :(, may have to resort to a grinder on the outside.

likely to be the lever on the outer handle seized on its pivot.

inside, so pop the doorcard off, push the lever down then unlock the door and it should open.

you'll need to douse it in WD40 or similar and give it a good wiggling, it has a steel pivot which corrodes inside the lever and goes stiff.
