Dashboard Bulbs - Worth The Effort?

Recommended Posts

ian010778

Hi all,

The light that tells me my sidelights are on doesn't work - I'm sure it's just the bulb as the sidelights work fine and the dash illuminates properly on sidelights as well as dipped headlights.

In my (never ending) quest to fix everything that's wrong/annoying I quite fancy having a go at it.

However I'm not a mechanic but I am quite handy and enjoy doing stuff on the car. On the 'Haynes scale' I'd say I'm about a 2.5 spanners bloke and I'll have a go at a 3 spanner job if I understand it properly first and don't need to purchase any expensive specialist tools.

So is it worth me attempting to take the dash out (never done it before) just to change this bulb or am I just going to open a can of worms?

Cheers all

Ian.

Anthony

Non-functioning dash lights and gauges bug the hell out of me, so I would fix it.

It's an easy enough job, just be patient/gentle removing the part of the dash that covers the instrument cluster - there's quite a few screws and they're not immediately obvious if you've never removed one, and if you just pull then you will break it. Once the cluster is visible, it's just a couple of screws to remove it, and popping the wiring plugs and speedo cable out of the back.
