Recommended Posts

Hi all.

As above, wanting to remove the original radio to get to centre console (hidden) nuts, it's a Phillips 569.

Cheers

I can't speak for the Phillips but removing my original Clarion was just a case of carefully removing the plastic trim on either end of the stereo to reveal the 'key holes' and then using a radio key from Halfords or your local motor factors to pull the stereo out. You might have slots or round holes for the keys to go in. If its the round holes you can usually cut a wire coat hanger to make two u-shaped keys. Pull the keys outwards slightly as you pull the radio out so the keys grip. Then when the radio is most of the way out disconnect the aerial and multiplug from the back. Obviously you may want to disconnect the battery first etc. etc.

Hope this was the sort of advice you were after!

Use a metal coat hanger to bend into U shapes instead of buying the Halfords tool - they work just as well if you are careful not to scratch the plastic front of the unit.

Alright Stu !

I've been and bought the halfords tools but still struggled to get it out ! Had to use a knife down the sides too. When i got it out the cassette part as been wrecked, the metal hinged flap that goes over the cassette hole was inside and the cassette mechanism inside was destroyed. Need to de-code it somehow and hope the radio part will still work !

Good luck Ste - if it is the original radio, I'd skip it and start again!
