Fuel Pump Relay?

Im trying to wire a stanard 1.9gti into one of my cars, but im stuck as far as im aware ive wired it up correctly and still wont start one question which i have is on the fuel pump relay i have two spare wires i understand one would have been the + feed out for the pump but i also have another larger one? I think this goes with rpm sigal wire? Am i right in thinking this?

The three thick wires on the Jetronic (non-CAT) fuel pump relay are the main 12v feed from the shunt box (brown), feed to the fuel injectors (white) and feed to the fuel pump (white).

Right just had the tester on the relay im getting power on the brown, but nothing on the other two large white ones? Is on of the smaller wires a signal wire to switch the relay? Or could i just do away with the relay and just use a normal one to switch the injector wire as my fuel pump is on a switch?
