A Shed That Puts A Smile On Your Face

Just taken delivery tonight of a 1.9 205 gti. The first car i ever got was a 205 back in....2003 i think. It was a a XLD 1.8 flat diesel, 59 of the french's finest horsepower. I gave £50 for it so you can probably guess it was a minter lol I loved it!

Anyway i've always wanted a gti ever since and for the past year or so wanted to save one from the scrappy and make it immaculate and do the gti6 conversion. Well my G reg 1.9 white example arrived today. I bought it unseen off ebay as it was at the other end of the country...let's just say the bloke forgot to mention a few things.

Half of the dash is missing, the seats are f***ed, he's left his mcdonalds ketchup packets in it lol it idles rough and likes to stall. But despite all that, its not rotten and it smells just like my D reg old shed used to do and i love it! Really goes well aswell despite the rough looking exterior.

For the price I gave for it i'm happy though, I know i've got a lot of late nights and empty pockets ahead of me to make it how I have planned it but im very much looking forward to it. Just want to let everyone know a bit about what i'm doing cos no doubt I will be after advice off everyone on here.

Also just another little thing I swear the clocks must be out on it although i don't know how they can be as it has standard box, standard wheels...well everything standard as far as I know. It pulls more than 70 in second gear and more than 110 in third. This is only at 7000rpm. Surely they cant pull them speeds in each gear?

it's called "8 extra valves"

Well luckily i'm newly single so no woman to keep me from the import things in life and i've just stripped the interior tonight and every 5 minutes keep realising more and more stuff i want to buy. Does anybody else find it difficult to bring themselves to putting so much money into one?

I definately hope tha it'l bring more fun thann frustration! And something I can never bring myself to sell.

i am hopelessly in love with 205 gti's so have no problem throwing my spare money at mine!

the only problem i find is getting my hands on spare money! lol! :D

there always seems to be something i want to do or something needed but i guess thats part of driving what is now considered a classic car!

i am happy and proud to be a 205 gti nut though and everytime i drive her i cant stop grinning and all negative thoughts i may have had are instantly gone!

i hope if the bug has really bitten you (like it has me! lol! ) that you will end up feeling the same!

I had a Black 205 1.9 years ago that used to pull speeds like that. It looked like it had had a Turbo badge on it at some point, so whether the engine had been changed at some point and then changed back I dont know.

When the box was removed it turned out it had a 3.6 CWP and even Del at Skips didnt know what it was from.

I had it to 150 on the clocks on wasnt quite flat out. Awesome car that was.
