Anyone Using Proflex

Hi folks this is my first post have any of you guys used proflex suspension and what is your view on it with regard to the 205 gti or is there something better and cheaper im running a 205 road rally car

I think AB used to use them but has moved on to Reiger since.

I use Proflex on the rear of my rally car and have found them to be good. They come into there own over bumpy, long stages where Bilsteins can overheat and loose there damping properties.

I would use them or Reigers on the front, but cant justify the expense !

You can't go wrong with challenge/gp n billies for road rallying imo.If you can afford it Proflex are supposed to be awesome,there workshop is directly behind where I work in clitheroe.

Take it your the same guy on Britishrally asking

about LSD's,I'm matt r.s on there.

Do a search on here and you will find most people say plated diffs are best!ATB's for roadcars.

yes mate i am i think ill go with the plated one and a decent crown wheel ive a new contract starting in march in london so id say the proflex will be on there way ive been in a couple of cars with it and it was awsome ive a 1900 engine being built for her too so id say she be a fair animal once she is finished money has just been better used for other things of late but with this new 3 yr contract it will finish the car to a proper standard rather than scrimping and saving its all goood fun

yes mate im doing all the local ones and ill try and marshall all the non local paul gardener will be building the engine for me he lives just up the road here from me so it is easier for me if there is any problems plus he builds engines for a good friend of mine who runs a very fast escort mk2 that regulary puts shame to some very expensive cars and he speaks highly of him will you be also doing the events local to us

Not in my 205 it's not ready yet.My twin brother will be doing Lonsdale belt and all the rest in his Satria gti though

I run Proflex on the rear of my road rally car, wasn't cheap but car is a hell of a lot stabler than on the billies, lot better under braking aswell.

People may say stick with billies as it's only a road rally car, but its much more benefical to you in the lanes compared to your average single venue. When I bought mine 3 years ago Andy baker mentioned the reigers were still in development but very close to Proflex, although seen as he now uses reiger I'm guessing they've cracked it.

I have Proflex on the back also.

 

Originally I was running Grp.A bilsteins all round and that was fine for single venue stuff but you needed to always be wary over anything remotely jumpy. When we started considering Epynt it was time to uprate the back end, so I put 3-way Proflex on there (and left the front on Billies).

 

It made a massive difference on the jumps, the stability on landing was much more confidence inspiring - it's a lot of dosh for what in reality is a pretty minimal difference over the course of a whole rally stage. But when you're doing road rallies, or rallies over places like Epynt or closed roads, it comes into it's own. In your case I think it would be money well spent.

 

I've since moved to Reigers on the front, which has been another leap in terms of capability, but I've never got round to changing the backs from Proflex. To be honest I don't need to, but a part of me thinks it would be nice to have a consistent set around the whole car (ie. Reigers all round). I think Reigers still work out a little more than Proflex and I'm not sure I'd notice any more stability over the Proflex, so it's hard to warrant spending the money just for the sake of it.

spoke with andy baker and he said the proflex and the rieger are much of a muchness to be honest one thing though the rieger are cheaper i asked about the front ones and he said that there was nothing wrong with a proper set of platform billies on the front problem with the big coil overs on the front is the travel that can do your shafts he has got them cracked but like already said a very expensive item for little if any benefit the problem with the 205 has always been the rears i think ill be opting for just the rear end sorting andy did say they where just on with developing the riegers for the front anyway and until he had tested them thoroughly he wouldnt be selling them the newer version ones that is id say you could get the older models but be sodd law youd buy them and the new ones would come out and be better for the same cash

another way to achieve higher damping control without expensive dampers is a vertical damper conversion, depends on the regs you need to adhere to though

Listen to the Silverback (AB) . Putting Proflex on the back of my road rally car meant that you didn't have to lift for the bumpy yellows and they are built for the whites .

 

I also kept the coilover billys for the front . It seemed to work well
