Tyres Fitted

I got my self some inter rally tryes and went to get them fitted at a few trye fitting places. The big names either told me because they did not supply them they would not fit them or they gave me a mega price and laughed as i walked away. One suggested quick fit  and one who said because they did not supply them they would not fit them so i asked if they could supply rally tryes and he said no so i just swore and walked away  . I was saved by my wife ringing around and she found a small independent trye chap running his business from one of our local garages and got a price for every thing. This chap was great and fitted my tryes, took great care balancing them and did the whole four for £35 inc vat. Also he knew about rally tryes and can get them at very good rates. So its worth looking at the small guys as well as the big companys. Nat tyres are sh*t.! , I forgot the price also included new valves. :D

I think my best price was nothing :D most I've paid was £24, and that included disposal of the dead carcases!

I paid £20 for my four tyres to be fitted and disposal of the old ones. Most tyre places in NI will fit tyres not supplied by them.

My local charge £10 per tyre for fitting, balancing, new valves and getting rid of the old ones.

My local tyre place used to be reasonable but I've heard their prices have gone up, decent blokes though, then there's a tyre place opened in my favourite mot garage that has unusual pricing,

Me - how much to fit these tyres for me?

Fitter - what's it worth?

Me - tenner?

Fitter - go on then, you get rid of the old ones though!

Then I just take the old ones to either the tip or drop them in the work skip!

Thanks to my career (all be it unemployed currently) I have a good relationship with a tyre fitting company locally that do all my fitting/disposal free including tyres they cannot supply me. Small independents too.

Tyre fitting prices are very haphazard - a number of garages just will not do it for tyres they didn't supply.

They are having a laugh!! It's normally around a tenner in our places per tyre fitted/balanced/dispossal/valve and that is main dealerships! As The Larne Man said it's not usually a problem here in N.I to fit tyres supplied by customers. You'd think they'd have bit of common sense knowing that it was rally tyres you had and put them on for you at a reasonable price, as not everywhere can supply you the brand/size/compound you need for rallying.

I know of this problem, can be a right pain as most chains do not fit 'supplied' tyres for various reason's, thankfully my local place I know the owners of 20 odd years do me proud of £20.00 a set for my own personal cars

It does seem a bit hit and miss, I had one Kwik Fit branch manager refuse because he didn't know what a split rim wheel was.

Generally, i find you are better off going to an independant tyre place rather than a big name or a chain, they are far more willing to take on odd jobs like this. Luckily i get mine done for free at work!

AFAIK kwik fit have to guarantee every tyre they fit for x miles or something, hence why they wont do anything remotely out of the ordinary

i went to a place that does commercial tyre fitting last time near the end of the day and they did it cheap

it's about £15 quid a wheel round here, as mentioned most big chains won't touch it.

I tend to go to smaller places where the fitters will do it for drink money
