Lining Footwells

Recommended Posts

screwloose

Hi all, just after your thoughts on what material to use to line the front footwells to protect against scuffing a newly painted interior in my track car.

I have no intention of running carpets of any kind but keen to protect the new interior paint job and prevent too much slippage especially when wet! Previously the footwells were just the bare painted metal which proved really slippy and didn't help pedal control when 'pushing on'.

I've thought about one of these pre-moulded footwell trays but they strike me as ridiculously expensive for what they are.

What about some kind of sticky backed material that i could cut and mould around the contours in and around the footwells?

Something like that sound deadening material? I'm just worried that wont be robust enough.

Any help, advise or suggestions welcomed.

I know some people have used that grip tape stuff that you use on skateboards and the like.

Hi Anthony. Thanks for the response, Not a bad idea that. Any idea where to source or is it going to be a case of googling?

Ebay every time, you'll be able to get a lot bigger sizes for a fraction of the cost of a skate shop.

I know your calling these footwell 'trays' expensive but how much are you seeing them for?

Id seen the ones above too and would really like a set but like you say 'ridiculously expensive'

I went with a non slip sticky back thing we have at work as i even thought skate board grip tape was a little pricey for what you were buying

Be warned though, its a pain to get straight ;)
