Original Keypad Immobiliser Lock

Recommended Posts

Para

Hi Guys,

I have a chance to purchase original genuine keyboard which was optionally mounted in 205. (part number 6160.46)Newer seen that in any 205's and I don't have a clue how does that work. The only thing I know that it is listed in Servicebox as peugeot part and it is some sort device connected to the ignition? How does that work and is it even worth to buy that ?

Cheers,Mike

Isnt that for a 106? Because thats a pic of the 106 dashboard, and Ive certainly seen that keypad in quite a few 106s/saxos but never a 205. I may well be corrected by someone else though!

They were fitted to some late 205s. I think servicebox just has the wrong picture by mistake.

I'm sure there's more to it than just the keypad - a control unit somewhere maybe?

Looks identical to the 106/Saxo and 306 ones

Might have been on same basic late models but never GTi's, they only had OE fitment Alarms which these days rarely work and are very rare full stop

Not really worth of hassle isn't it ?

I have never seen any 205 with the keypad and I worked at dealers through the last of the 205,s it's maybe a french thing?

Thug Pug, we are learning every day something new about our cars :) I love that ! Apparently it's not connected to the ECU, it's somehow blocking the connection to the starter motor. 4 numbers has to be keyed in , green light is lighting and then you go !

I have worked on many key pad problems mainly early 406,s where the loom at the rear of the key pad breaks due to the key pad being on a drop down pad and the movement bursts the loom.

All the key pad Peugeots (106, 306, 405, 406, early 605) I have ever seen go through the ECU and block both ignition and fuel and not the starter as all you would have to do is bump start the car and away you go.

I remeber this off my 106 XSi. Linked through the ECU from what I recall. Think I have seen one once on a 205, but it meant forfeiting the cubby hole under the radio and where would you put all the little bits that fall off the 205 if that was no longer accessible.

I have one of these on my ZX, cuts off the fuel or ignition, certainly still turns over.

had this on my Le Mans 405, its a great little device like your own personal immobiliser - great until you tell someone else your code though and they change it for a prank - you dont get far then.

mine was real subtle too - it was the model number of the le mans plus a random digit lol
