206 Diesel Engine Help/advise Please

my sister has a 206 diesel 1.9[not hdi] on a v plate in good condition but yesterday she had a massive water leak took it to the garage and they have told her its not worth repairing.she has told me that the water is coming out of a metal pipe on the engine[yes i know its a bad description but its what shes told me and i havnt seen the car yet as she lives 30 miles away].the garage say that this pipe is pressed into the engine and the only way to fix it is to strip the engine.

so just wondering if this is true or if theres any way round it wont get chance to look at it till sunday

It will be a dw8 engine. Sounds to me like they can be bothered to do it. But as far as I can remember the rear water pipe has a rubber seal. But best to check for your self.
